Young And Radiant Skin

Each year, billions of dollars are spent on treatments that claim to eliminate wrinkles, age spots, itching, peeling, and redness. Nevertheless, avoiding the sun is the simplest and least expensive way to preserve healthy and youthful-looking skin.

The sun is the primary cause of wrinkles, dry skin, and age spots. Your skin undergoes alterations as you age. For example, decreased perspiration results in greater dryness. Aging skin thins and loses fat, resulting in an appearance that is less plump and smooth. Specifically, the veins and bones beneath the skin become more apparent. When your skin is damaged, it may take longer for it to heal.

Avoiding the sun can considerably slow these consequences. Even though UV damage cannot be totally reversed, the skin can sometimes recover. Therefore, it is never too late to protect yourself from the harmful effects of the sun.

Five methods to slow the aging process:

1.       Wear protective apparel. A hat with a broad brim provides protection for the neck, ears, eyes, and head. On the label, look for sunglasses that block 99 to 100 percent of the sun's rays. When in the sun, wear loose, lightweight long-sleeved shirts and long pants or skirts.

2.       Check your skin frequently. Examine birthmarks, moles, and spots for size, shape, color, or texture alterations. Consult a physician if you observe any concerning changes. The American Academy of Dermatology suggests that older, fair-skinned persons have an annual skin evaluation as part of their standard health examination.

3.       Avoid getting an artificial tan. Do not utilize sunlamps, tanning beds, tanning tablets, or tanning cosmetics. After taking tanning pills, your skin will become orange due to a pigment ingredient. This color additive has been approved by the FDA for coloring foods but not for tanning the skin. The high concentration of color additive in tanning pills may be hazardous. Cosmetic bronzers are not suntan lotions and do not provide sun protection for the skin.

4.        Use sunscreen. The sun protection factor (SPF) for sunscreens can range from 2 to 30 or higher. A greater number indicates longer coverage. Purchase items with an SPF of at least 15. Additionally, seek for products with the following labels: broad spectrum (meaning they protect against both UVA and UVB rays) and water resistant (meaning they stay on your skin longer, even if you get wet or sweat a lot). Don't forget to reapply the lotion as necessary.

5.       Avoid exposure to the sun. The sun should be avoided between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. This is when the sun's UV rays are at their peak intensity. Do not be deceived by the cloudy sky. Clouds let harmful rays pass through. UV rays can also flow through water, so do not believe you are safe if you feel cool when swimming.
