I have tried various “diets” both in the
USA and in England, and to me, they all felt like self-inflicted pain. They
were uninteresting, tasteless, and restricted. Like many of you, I work hard
and don’t ask for much in the way of pleasures when I get home at night. The
one thing that does offer me immense joy is eating. I adore food, and yeah, I
like the occasional drink too.
I was not and never have been a particularly large person, weighing 186 lbs at 5’8” tall. I was not large but always felt bloated. I had the “carry-on luggage” hanging over the belt and always felt tired and lethargic. Then one day my wife and I heard about the Atkins torture, er, diet. I thought, "What the heck?" "I might as well give it a go." Well, to my surprise, I dropped weight, and I lost it rather rapidly. I still lacked energy, but nevertheless, I was extremely impressed. It was like every man’s fantasy come true: meat, meat, and more meat, and losing weight. I was doing great, but yes, as you probably guessed, I grew bored, bored, bored. The weight went back on far more quickly than it came off. I have discovered that most, if not all, diets will help you lose weight. The trick is being able to stick to it.
Like all the previous diets I had tried, Atkins was restricted, monotonous, and, after a while, tasteless. To be fair to the other diets I had tried, including Atkins, there are recipes that can help alleviate the discomfort, but who wants to start tinkering in the kitchen after a long day at the office? I can now confirm that I do not. We've all heard the adage "too much of a good thing," and it's true that a "good thing" may soon become a very awful thing. Atkins nearly turned me against steak forever!
Now I'm losing weight again, and I'm down
to 172 pounds. It's only 14 pounds, or a "stone" as we say in
England, but I'm not bored, I feel wonderful, and I eat anything I want after
work. How I hear you all crying, I will tell you that I have found a way to
give my body the nutrition it needs to remain healthy while simultaneously
losing weight.

cheap. I am as excited as a child in a candy store; I adore it. Unfortunately,
this makes gaining weight quite simple, and so the cycle of dieting begins.
We must eat a fair amount of food while
providing our bodies with all of the vitamins and nutrients that they require,
but the goals that we set for ourselves must be reachable; otherwise, we
consign ourselves to failure. Do we need to consume nothing but meat? Do we
have to eat nothing but salad? Does anyone believe that microwave meals are
actually satisfying?
Numerous health issues, including heart
disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure, are increasingly associated with
obesity. In addition, it is well established that obesity is the
fastest-growing health issue on the planet. It is essential that obese
individuals who seek to lose weight receive encouragement and assistance to
escape the vicious cycle of dieting and overeating. Please understand that you
are not alone.
I frequently observe obese individuals who
are plainly trying to reduce weight jogging around the streets in an effort to
burn calories. If they were aware of the damage they are causing to their
joints and heart, they would likely not engage in this sort of exercise. I am
not suggesting that you avoid exercise, but we must ensure that we are
physically well enough for it. If you carry excessive excess weight, you will

The majority of overweight individuals I
have observed jogging are probably doomed to fail because they cannot possibly
enjoy forcing their bodies to do something that, let's face it, has been
completely foreign to it for years. Starting gently is essential. Do not expect
rapid results, the quick fix does not exist. It takes time to lose fitness, and
it will take time to regain fitness. Be patient.
If obese individuals are ever to lose
weight and keep it off, they must seek a more scientific approach to
maintaining healthy, nutritional eating habits. There is assistance available;
an army of devoted individuals, who were all once clients like me, are today

These individuals recognize that
appropriate diet is the foundation of a healthy lifestyle. They recognize that
the never-ending cycle of excruciating eating and grueling exercise does not

are extremely determined and can adhere to even the most rigorous diets to
attain their goals. I fear that, unlike many others, I am not one of these
individuals.
